Rockin L Dorpers. We started raising sheep in northeast Texas about one and a half years ago. We chose Dorpers because they are hair sheep and shed, therefore no shearing. The lamb every 8 months, the meat is better with no strong "lamb taste." Carcass weight is 57– 58% compared to 51% for most other breeds. They grow very fast. The Dorpers raise good lambs on forage where most sheep barely exist.
